The Frame - Trailer
Here is the trailer for The Frame, a new movie by Jamin Winans, the director of Ink, which was an exceptionally well done low budget action/fantasy. Ink was an indie hit so this time around Jamin had a bigger budget and more possibilities. Judging by the trailer he made yet another interesting film:

Wierd Al is back
Wow, almost a month since the last post. I've been busy with some new stuff. Good stuff.
Anyways. Weird Al Yankovic is back, not ,that he ever was really away but he says all of his albums are comeback albums. He's releasing eight videos in eight days, four of them are already out, they are great with some fun guest stars but so far this is my favorite. It's very fast and creatively done lyric video, Word Crimes, enjoy, you might even learn something:

Perturbator - 16bit Music Video
It's really trendy these days to create something new with a retro feel to it, even go as far as using the limited technologies of a bygone era, limited resolution, limiter color palette. For my eyes these kind of experiments are a treat, but guess the younger generation, who never played the Sega MegaDrive or the SNES might find these odd.

Gotham - The Series Trailer
This is the age of comic book movies and tv shows and for a geek like me that's a very good thing. After so many movie adaptations here comes a tv series about the origins of Batman and many other well known characters. I'm really looking forward to this, the trailer looks promising and the cast is fantastic, it's good to see Donal Logue in another great show after Vikings. Check it out:

Meet Boomer
Boomer is a little robot dinosaur and he is amazing. I've seen a lot of different robotic animals from the hex bugs to the huge dog like robots but nothing compares to Boomer, he really looks like he's alive and interacting with you. I would like to have one for myself.
A Trip out to Sea
A Trip out to Sea is an interactive website and it simulates what happens if you fall out of a boat in the middle of the sea. It's quite atmospheric and scary actally, check it out:

I Origins and Gone Girl - Trailer
I Origins is the new movie from the director of Another Earth, Mike Cahill. Another Earth was a breath of fresh air with a great basic idea and clever execution so I'm glad to see that he has a new movie. Luckily I Origins also looks very interesting with great images and many deep questions.
Great looking trailer for the new David Fincher movie starring Ben Affleck. It's good to see Fincher back with a darker movie.

It's not that interesting and not that funny at all, so I don't really know why I'm posting this. Maybe because it's a cat + Super Mario. And motion tracking though. Anyway, here it is, check it out:

More trailers, again...
The second trailer for today is from Hercules which is looking a lot better than the other Hercules movie just a few months ago. The movie was shot here in Hungary and I had the chance to have a walk among the sets after the shooting, it looked cool there and it looks cool in the trailer too.

More Trailers for March
Here are a few more new trailers, check them out:
Firstly we have The Signal, a new sci-fi flick starring Laurence Fishburne and it looks interesting, let's hope it'll stay that way:

Next is The Giver which looks like another entry in the "kid heroes" category which is a trend that should die, but at least there great adult actors in it as well like Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard - I just hope they have more screen time than the teenagers:
Lastly here is a teaser trailer for the Peanuts movie. As a kid I loved the comics about Snoopy and Charlie Brown, they had a strange atmosphere to them. The teaser looks interesting, it's 3D, but not your traditional one - let's see how it works for an hour and a half.

The Maze Runner
Here is a trailer for an interesting looking movie: The Maze Runner. One of my first great film experiences was the movie Labyrinth and ever since that I have a soft spot for puzzle based movies. The first Cube movie was great, but it's not a very popular theme among filmmakers. Now here is this quite good looking little trailer, this even might be a decent movie... I just had enough with kids saving the world. Anyways, check it out:

My New Portfolio is Online
It's been many years since I had my own online portfolio, it just didn't seem like I need it, but last year I started to work on a new one. The design has been changed a few times and I'm still tweaking it here and there, but the biggest issue is to find all my old graphics, videos, animations, etc. - there is a lot. Now still a lot of my works are missing but it's enough to put the site online. Slowly I will add more and more stuff to it.

Simon Stålenhag's Digital Paintings
Check out these great looking and atmospheric digital paintings from Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag. Every image is calm and peaceful in a way, showing landscapes, cityscapes with people and vehicles. But then there are the scifi themed parts, a robot here and there, a part of some kind of machine. These elements never overshadow the main panting, they give a strange scifi feel to them without being a cliché. Great stuff, check it out.

50 Years of Space Exploration
Here is a neat little infographic showing how far into space our spacecrafts ventured already. It's interesting to see just how many different missions there were over the years, for example I would have never thought that there were as many as 49 missions exploring Venus alone, even more than to Mars.

Guardians of the Galaxy - First Trailer
I was skeptical about this movie when I've seen the first images and characters, I was afraid that they are going to take it too seriously. After watching the trailer it seems that it's quite the opposite, Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be a fun and entertaining, can't wait to see it:

The Most Influential Movie That Was Never Made - Jodorowsky's Dune
The first movie I've seen from Jodorowsky was Holy Mountain and his style immediately hit me, it was so different from anything I've seen in movies. Since then I've watched all of his movies and read stories about his life and he became even more interesting.
One movie that always came up was Dune, there are loads of concept arts, storyboard sketches on the internet and it's obvious that it would have been something extraordinary if it gets finished. Sadly that wasn't the case but here is a documentary which might give a little more insight about this extremely influential but non existent movie:

Unfortunately the movie itself wasn't really good, a plot full of holes with weak and stereotypical characters, I expected a lot more - but that doesn't take away from the real strength of the movie: the visuals.
