Wierd Al is back

Wow, almost a month since the last post. I've been busy with some new stuff. Good stuff.

Anyways. Weird Al Yankovic is back, not ,that he ever was really away but he says all of his albums are comeback albums. He's releasing eight videos in eight days, four of them are already out, they are great with some fun guest stars but so far this is my favorite. It's very fast and creatively done lyric video, Word Crimes, enjoy, you might even learn something:

Super Mario Cat

It's not that interesting and not that funny at all, so I don't really know why I'm posting this. Maybe because it's a cat + Super Mario. And motion tracking though. Anyway, here it is, check it out:

My New Portfolio is Online

It's been many years since I had my own online portfolio, it just didn't seem like I need it, but last year I started to work on a new one. The design has been changed a few times and I'm still tweaking it here and there, but the biggest issue is to find all my old graphics, videos, animations, etc. - there is a lot. Now still a lot of my works are missing but it's enough to put the site online. Slowly I will add more and more stuff to it.

Supermoine Holypop

Wow, so much energy in such a short animation, the sheer craziness is just soaking through the screen while you watch this little... I don't even exactly know what this is, but it's fun indeed, check it out:

Isometric Animated Short

Here is a little animated short from Mirai Mizue. Back in the days when they first tried to introduce 3D to the games the popular solution was the isometric method. It's 3D in a way but really it isn't because it doesn't have perspective. I really enjoyed games with this style so I have soft spot for these kind of animations. Modern. Enjoy:

Super Tropic Tramp

Really cool minimal music video from Koji Aramaki, check it out, it feels more like a demoscene demo than a real video.

Bot & Dolly - Box

This is an amazing little short which uses a lot of post-production, projection mapping, tracked camera movement and a lot creativity and style. I would go as far as to say that this is the most inventive way to use projection mapping yet, so enjoy, let yourself be amazed:

Function 2013 - Demoscene meeting

As I have already stated previously I used to be a demoscener, well hell, I still am and I visited the only regular Hungarian demoscene meeting that exists the previous weekend: Function 2013. When I started the demoscene around 96-97 there was like 6-8 parties every year, now it's down to one and a some demoshows and C64 meetings, but the scene is better than ever. Quality releases, a lots of foreign visitors, big names, old faces, it was great.

Here is the winner in the democompo from Fairlight, a norwegian demoscene and cracker group, hands down, it's a very cool little demo.

And for the first time I post something that I produced together with Nagz and Senderkatch for the wild demo compo, and it took the 1st place, so we are really happy. On the scene I'm known under the alias Immortal Rat, and this is our long forgotten demo groups first release since 2000 or so, here it goes: Touch Me by Greenroom.

Check out these pages for more info about Function and the Demoscene:

The known universe

Here is an animation showing in accurate scale the size of the known universe. It was a great idea because we are visual creatures and with this we can really see how small we are. See that is, not understand. Wow.

Rayman Legends

Rayman Origins was a great and fun game when it came out, it was like an interactive beautiful cartoon that you can play with, be a part of. Now here is the sequel, Rayman Legends, and it looks even better than the previous one. Check it out if you're into cartoon style and platform games.

The Backwater Gospel

The Blackwater Gospel is an animated short from 2011 directed by Bo Mathorne and produced by the Animation Workshop (www.animwork.dk). It's in 3D but the characters, backgrounds are very artistic, almost watercolor looking, really cool animated short with a bizarre story. Check it out:

The world's largest stop-motion animation set

It's very short but nicely done, of course it looks like there is big money behind it, but still, must have been fun to work on. Check it out:

Amazing looking short film from a 22 years old animator

Kaleb Lechowski is 22 year old German arts student who by himself created an amazing looking animated scifi short. There are some shots which look like they belong in a 100 million + dollar movie from Hollywood - where his name is becoming more and more well known. I can only wish luck to this young kid, keep up the good work, rule Hollywood! Check it out!

Kanye West - Black Skinhead Music Video

Here is a really weird music video from Kanye West. I believe it's 100 percent animation, the movements are done with motion capture but they are exaggerated to the point where the whole thing becomes surreal. Very nice light and shadow play and plus point for not giving a shit about making it look perfect, there are a lot of "bugs" and visual mishaps in it, but hey, if everything would be perfect, nothing would be really... but that's already philosophy. Enjoy.

Sonic - First Person

Several months ago I've posted the Super Mario FPS video, now Sonic got the same treatment. Not as amusing as the Mario one, but still fun to see if you were a Sonic fan back in the days.

Cyriak - The Surrealism Continues

The first ever post on this blog was about Cyriak, and I've just realized, that there was no other posts about his works, though they are visually interesting as hell.

Here is the newest one from him, originally created for showtime, Cobwebs:

Next is an older one, but one of my favorites, evil teddy bears tear up beach, check it out:

And one more, a music video for Eskmo from 2010:

Photoshop CS5 Filter Animation

Here is a cool little video showcasing all the filters in PS. It's nothing special, just an interesting experiment, but it's fun to watch, especially if you are familiar with Photoshop.
