Perturbator - 16bit Music Video
It's really trendy these days to create something new with a retro feel to it, even go as far as using the limited technologies of a bygone era, limited resolution, limiter color palette. For my eyes these kind of experiments are a treat, but guess the younger generation, who never played the Sega MegaDrive or the SNES might find these odd.

Turn Down for What - Music Video
Wow, and I thought the Big Bad Wolf video was strong and then comes this. Turn Down for What from Lil John & Dj Snake. Hold on to something...

Photoshopped Music Video
Here is a great little Hungarian music video for the photoshop fans. It's such a simple idea that it's strange it's never been done before. Congratulations to the creators!

This is a very interesting instrument, not visually though - but I still would happy to fool around with it for a few hours:

Super Tropic Tramp
Really cool minimal music video from Koji Aramaki, check it out, it feels more like a demoscene demo than a real video.

Astral Body - Between The Buried And Me
Here is a new music video from the metalcore band Between The Buried And Me and it looks more like a showcase for After Effects plugins than a real video. Here you can see how it looks if you use Trapcode Particular, Mir and the Plexus plugins in a classical fashion. Nothing new here, just a nicely composed animation highlighting the power of AE.

Looper Music Videos
Here is a new music video from Dizzee Rascal for the track I Don't Need a Reason. The whole video is compiled from shorter or longer loops composed together in a nice fashion. You can't really see where one loop ends and another starts. Here is the video:
This video actually reminded of an old Chemical Brothers video: Star Guitar. The video is also compiled of loops creating an endless audio-reactive video experience, very different way but the outcome is even more impressive:
Finally here is another video from a decade ago, Kylie Minogue, Come Into My World, a really nice looper video, again using the technique in a very different but effective way:

Kanye West - Black Skinhead Music Video
Here is a really weird music video from Kanye West. I believe it's 100 percent animation, the movements are done with motion capture but they are exaggerated to the point where the whole thing becomes surreal. Very nice light and shadow play and plus point for not giving a shit about making it look perfect, there are a lot of "bugs" and visual mishaps in it, but hey, if everything would be perfect, nothing would be really... but that's already philosophy. Enjoy.

Music video directors: Chris Cunningham
Come to Daddy from Aphex Twin was the first music video that really shocked and impressed me at the same time. The concept of the whole video was just something completely new, and though there were strange and crazy clips, this just took the cake for me at that time. The visual style, colors, locations and post production was top notch and brutally dirty at the same time, and it worked like a charm. To this day I think this is Chris Cunningham director's best video, it became an instant classic:
Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin
Chris Cunningham got into the film industry very young, he became a concept artist and was even lucky enough to work with Stanley Kubrick on his movie AI, which sadly was finished (and fucked up) by Steven Spielberg. Anyway, C.C. did some robot concepts for him, but they stayed in the shelf for many years. Luckily, he could realize them in a video for Björk.
Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin
All is Full of Love by Björk
He made many really good music videos between 1996 and 2006. He also tried to do short films, but I think they were way too experimental to make a real stir. Here is one of his shorts:
Rubber Johnny, music by Aphex Twin
For many years he had a feature in pre-production, Neuromancer from Gibson, but sadly it never got realized. Lately there is not much information about C.C. He did a Gucci commercial a few years ago, and last year he did a video-remix of a Gil Scott-Heron track. I hope one day he will be back to his old productive self, whether it's music videos, shorts or feature films, his visual style should live on.
Here is his filmography, I can honestly say that all of these videos are worth checking out, there's something good and interesting in all of them:
- "Second Bad Vilbel" (1996) video for Autechre
- "Back With The Killer Again" (1996) video for The Auteurs
- "Light Aircraft on Fire" (1996) video for The Auteurs

Interesting Music Videos
Here is a new music video from Morcheeba, which is a quite unusual one. It doesn't try to overwhelm you with it's cool animation or monumental story, it's just a plain and simple animated video with nice colors and esthetic typography, check it out:
The other video for today is an interactive visual experience for Ellie Goulding's track: Lights. The animation is computed real time on the monitor, you can even control it a bit with your mouse.

Kill The Noise - 80's awesomeness
Here is really beautiful music video from Kill The Noise, called Kill The Noise Pt. I. In the video you see a post-apocalyptic earth with zombies roaming about, cyber-heroes battling the hordes of evil. Everything has this stylish 70's - 80's look with the music giving aid to create an amazing atmosphere. Almost as good as the Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon game was. Enjoy!

Pet Shop Boys - Axis
Here is the new music video from Pet Shop Boys, an already legendary band. The music is really cool, oldschool style with modern sound and a lot of retro elements, but the music video takes the cake. Stylish mirroring effects, laser and neon lights, geometrical shapes, tunnels, really cool stuff - nothing too difficult or complicated, enjoy:

Weird Music Videos
I have two kind of weird music videos for today, none of them are new and they didn't make a big stir back in their time, but I still love them... and the music too.
The first one is from Hella, the title is Try Dis and it was released around 2005. The video is about a down-syndrome guy flying through basically everything with a lots of weird shit happening around him. Lot of people mind find the state of the guy or the nature of the video offensive, but I think it's all positive and I'm sure for him the shooting and seeing the final video was the experience of his life.

The second video is from Horse the Band, a band playing nintendo-core... I'm not sure if there's such a thing but if there is then for sure it's what they are playing. This video goes into absurdity after a few seconds and it's just a total downhill from there. They must have had fun with it. A Million Exploding Suns. Enjoy.

New Meshuggah Music Video
Here is the music video from the Swedish math-metal band, Meshuggah. The album itself was released a year ago and this is the second video off it. The visual style and execution looks a lot like one of Tool's older music videos with the stop motion technique and the dark atmosphere. Make sure to watch it till the end where the climax happens.

Esther's Mechanical Admirer
This music video is a few years old already, but it still stands out with it's unique looks and robot-design. The song itself is from an 2007 dated album by Amon Tobin and the video was produced only 3 years later in 2010, so it's not your usual single + music video package. Make sure to watch it till the end, the outcome is a treat in itself.
