Astral Body - Between The Buried And Me

Here is a new music video from the metalcore band Between The Buried And Me and it looks more like a showcase for After Effects plugins than a real video. Here you can see how it looks if you use Trapcode Particular, Mir and the Plexus plugins in a classical fashion. Nothing new here, just a nicely composed animation highlighting the power of AE.

Asian Directors #2. - Shin'ya Tsukamoto

Shin'ya Tsukamoto is another interesting character on the asian movie scene. His first hit was Tetsuo, a black and white, completely surreal and unique vision of a human becoming a machine. When I've seen it for the first time I was surprised, I didn't know that you can make a movie like this - somewhere between Lynch and Cronenberg on the edge of insanity. He was the producer as well so I guess he could do whatever he wanted with the movie, and that's exactly how it looks, like a very intimate confession of a misunderstood artist.

Since then Shin'ya has made a second Tetsuo movie with a higher budget, even crazier visuals and lots of gore, Body Hammer is a worthy sequel topping the first one in almost every aspect - the only thing it can't do is to cause the same kind of effect the first did, the feeling of unknown, never before seen style of film making.

Shin'ya's name became praised by fans of the weird all over the world, his movies have a cult following, so if you are into crazy visuals, experimental film making and you don't mind gore check out his films, you won't be disappointed.

The Grand Budapest Hotel - Trailer

Here is the trailer of Wes Anderson's new movie called The Grand Budapest Hotel. I've been hearing about this movie for a long time, first it was supposed to be shot in Hungary, but they've changed the location to Germany, and since the story doesn't have any kind of connection to Hungary or Budapest it doesn't really matter where it is shot - though it would be nice to have this all-star cast (Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Harvey Keitel, Jeff Goldblum, Owen Wilson, Jude Law... and list goes on) in Hungary for a few weeks.

Wes Anderson directed movies like The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, so for sure it's going to be funny, strange, weird, with beautiful pictures and intelligent dialogues. I'm really looking forward to it, check out the trailer:

Fabian Oefner - The Art of Physics

Fabian Oefner is a young artist from Switzerland. He is capturing moments that are invisible or too fast for us to see. Simple physical everyday things, like sound waves, centripetal forces or magnetic ferroliquids.

I, Frankenstein

I mean... what the fuck is this?? Who gave this the greenlight? Why? So many questions. The stupidity already starts at the title since Frantenstein was the name of the doctor and not the creation. Pff...

The Simpsons Couch Gag by Guillermo Del Toro

After watching Pacific Rim I still think that Guillermo Del Toro is one of the most creative filmmakers working today. He has the vivid imagination of a 10 year old but combines it with an adult sense of reality, so there is an explanation to everything in his movies.

Here is an opening sequence for The Simpsons for this years Tree House of Horror episode, check it out, if you're a horror fan you heart is going to warm up.

Flashback is Back!

Lately we can see a rise of very old titles being rebooted, and not only the hyped titles but ones like Rise of the Triad or Shadow Warrior. These games of course can't bring back the old times and make you feel like the first time you've tried these games. Flashback was one very different game back in the days, because it was slow, it needed patience and a lot of tries. It came after Another World but it had much superior graphics and amazing looking cutscenes.

A few years ago we he an HD remake of the game which looks quite nice (the same thing happened with the Monkey Island games), but now we have a complete reboot with 3D graphics, but gameplay mechanics seem to be the same, so it might be a great release, check it out if you ever played Flashback:

Sagrada Familia 2026

Antoni Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona could be finally finished by 2026. Gaudi's style in architecture is like a breath of fresh air with his curves, colors and weird solutions. The building of the Sagrada Familia started back in 1882 and it seems that it can come to and end in a few years. Very nice building and what's amazing that it still looks fresh after more than a hundred and fifty years later.
