Hemlock Grove Werewolf Transformation

Hemlock Grove is the new series produced by Netflix, which means it won't air week after week, but the whole series is going to be released on April the 19th. It's going to be a show about werewolves, personally I'm not a big fan of them but this transformation scene is quite brave and interesting looking. It's cgi though, so it will never look as cool as it did in the American Werewolf in London, but at least they are trying something new. I also like the fact that the guy transforms into a real looking wolf, not some kind of weird / funny trans-human-wolf character. Enjoy!

Modern-Day Games on Retro Cartridges

Artist StarRoivas reimagined some modern-day video games as retro Atari-2600 Cartridges, nice little projekt, it would be really interesting to see some of these games on Atari.

Evil Dead Remake Trailer

Now here is something you don't see very often, a horror movie trailer, which is scary in itself. It's been a long time ago since the last movie from the Evil Dead franchise came out, and watching this trailer you realize that other than the plot and the location, the whole atmosphere is very different. The original films were scary, but in a fun way, always lightening you up with a few jokes in between two mutilations. This it's they are not fucking around and while Sam Riami, the director of the originals is the producer, he let Fede Avarez (the new director) take the franchise to a different direction. I loved the old movies and I love the fact that they reinvented the series instead of copying the originals.

Hold on, here it goes:

Battlefield 4 - First game footage

For the past few years first person shooters started to look more and more like action movies. Cinematic sequences with pseudo interactivity, realistic looking and moving characters, atmospheric scenery, great sound effects and never ending over the top action. With this evolution came also the de-evolution of the gaming aspect, the gameplay losing it's freedom. Of course we have the open world games to make up for it, but they can never achieve the same level of realism as these new kind of linear, roller-coaster like games, and the Battlefield franchise is one of these games. These 17 minutes of game footage shows just that, an amazing ride with the strange feeling of your ass being attached to rails. It's a great experience even if only for the first time.

ASD Demos

Another demoscene related post, this are two demos from ASD, Andromeda Software Development. These guys have been around since 1993 making demos, intros, but their success came around 2005, when they started to release state of the art demos wining almost every party's democompo where they had a submission.

This one is called Lifeforce, from 2007:

This one is called Spin and it's from 2011:

Super Mario FPS

All of us have played Super Mario Bros, or some other entry in the franchise, everybody knows who Mario and Luigi is and we are all used to the 2D side scrolling format of these titles. Here are two animations proving that Mario would just work perfectly in a 3D FPS style environment, great idea and execution, enjoy!

Cartoon Violence

Another music video, this time from France. As a kid I've always enjoyed imagining certain scenarios after watching an action packed Chuck Norris or Jackie Chan movie. I was the Terminator, Rambo or any other current action character, running around the house and garden with plastic weapons, imaginary explosions and bullet hits. In this music video all of these memories come to life and let me slip back to the good old days, even if just for a few minutes. Great idea and great execution!

Real-Time Animation Sorcery

This is a demoscene product, a demo. It’s not pre-rendered, retouched, it’s a real 3D engine producing the animation on your computer in real-time. Sometimes I see effects or animations made in a way I can’t really explain or understand, using combinations of effects, shaders, filter or modifiers etc. But with this it’s even more impressive, because all the things you can see had to be programmed into an engine, so it can distort and modify the geometry accordingly and build up these breathtaking shots.

Still by Square, enjoy:

Pole Dancing to Infinity and Beyond

This is a great music video and not just because the ridiculous amount of hot babes. It’s a simple idea, but a lot of times as a director or graphic artist we tend to overdo them, just because it’s seems too simple. Here they used the exact amount of post-production and CGI that was necessary, creating a surreal yet warm vision.

With Diplo and Lazerdisk Party Sex you can boldly go where no man has gone before. Set It Off!

POV Awesomeness

Biting Elbows is the band, and "Bad Motherfucker" is the title of the song which came with a very bold and dangerous looking POV style music video. Sit back and hold on because it's gonna take you for a ride. Some actors are a little stiff and some stunt work maybe sloppy, but the overall experience is really out there. It's like you get to see the world through Chev Chelios's eyes for five minutes. Definitely worth a watch! Straight from Russia.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Teaser Trailer

Stunning visuals, gripping atmosphere, great music and cool looking characters - all this is in the teaser trailer of the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red, the team that created the Witcher series as well. One other interesting fact, Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the pen-and-paper RPG Cyberpunk 2020, is also part of the team.

There is no release date yet, just a line at the end of the teaser saying coming: when it's ready.
That's also something you don't hear very often, check it out!

Cyriak, The Master of Seamless Surrealism

Cyriak is not a new face on the animation scene. His short animations are surreal and sometimes quite disturbing, but visually very creative and it's certainly a different approach.

Check out his latest musicvideo, Cirrus by Bonobo:
